Interview Pro Tip for busy executives ….
Stop sounding as though you are regurgitating the annual report!
I work with many C-level executives and when nervous or trying to impress, they make the same mistake. When they get into an interview they perform and use heaps of jargon, business speak or annual report rhetoric.
Instead, have the guts to be yourself — a little vernacular, real stories and it’s even okay to sound “unpolished”. You’ll find a more natural conversational style will do far better.
One of the things I laugh about with very senior level clients is that we have to rehearse “sounding natural”.
Just like wearing natural make-up really!
And they frequently thank me later.
